Here folks, is a Diamond Reo “Trend” truck, with the camper mounted. The guy who bought ours has the truck to put it on, so this is what he’ll end up with. Who knew there was another one?
The story is that Diamond Reo White made only 1200 of these trucks, which have a composite (plastic) cab, and they tried to force each dealer, including the Oliver and MM dealers, to take one of these rigs. The camper is, in theory, detatchable, and one could swap out a flatbed or grain body, and the happy farmer would have an RV for vacationing.
A good idea, but evidently in the real world, the campers (mounted with cam over quick disconnects) were nearly impossible to line up and latch, and they never sold. Looks may have played a part too, although it is sort of cute in an English Bull Dog sort of way.
So, now we know.
This does look just a bit snappier!!
