Tini-Home siding, or, “The Silver-Surfer”

Posted: April 5, 2012 in Tin Can Tourists, Vintage trailers

Here’s a teaser (trailer?) for the siding installation on the Tini-Home.  I’d decided not to glue it to the trailer, but to attach it the same way aluminum skin would have been, by stapling it to the body at the edges and window/door openings.   As hard as it was to stand the siding up against the trailer, I don’t know how I’d have done it with contact cement.  It’s a little hard to get it pulled tight and attached, but I found a way.

The excess will be trimmed with the router and a laminate bit (note to self, laminate bit cuts Luan plywood as easily as Filon, so be careful around the window/door openings), that part is easier than I thought it would be.  By tomorrow afternoon, the trailer should be all skinned in bright silver.

Stay tuned!

It’ll still needs LOTS of stuff done after the siding gets done, so be ready for some midnight oil burning when you get home!
