And now, something completely different…

OK, not really, I’m still welding and grinding, but not on the fender skirts! After a little shopping this afternoon, and picking up our dog Ari from doggie day-care, I got busy on the front bumper.

You’ll recall that narrowing the bumper to tuck in tighter to the body made the holes for the (rather ugly) rectangular park/turn lamps to small. I’m planing on finding some neat-o round driving lights to french (or tunnel, for you non-car people) into that spot in the bumper, which required filling the hole.

This turned out really well. So well in fact, that it’s kind of a shame to cut a hole for a new light in. That’s the plan though, so follow along as I continue to cut the Thunderbird up into little pieces and weld them back together again…

First, make the hole even bigger...

There, that looks ruined.

A piece of 10 ga. from the scrap pile to the rescue. I'm glad I never throw anything out...

Weld it, heat it, hammer it to shape...

And it looks like this when it's done!

So I finally saw you vision after your last post, but you just lost me again on this one. I know though, that will be stunning when finished. Just as everything you do is.
